Bookroom  The Media Center’s library bookroomcontains seating for 100 students in areas for large group classes, small study groups, and individuals. The library bookroom is open during the school day, including lunch periods and before and after school.

There are over 20,000 circulating books for checkout, and over 6000 reference books and encyclopedias, videos and magazines. These materials support classroom assignments and recreational reading. The online catalog is available from the web in the library, classrooms, and at home.

Our books are in a range of reading levels: from easy reading for our new-comer English Language Learners to college level reading for our dual-enrollment students, who take classes at Fordson High School and at Henry Ford Community College or the University of Michigan Dearborn.

Computer labs  In addition to the library bookroom, the Media Center has sixty  computer workstations in two computer labs, additional wireless laptops for individual study, and computerized card catalog workstations.  The Fordson Media Center web page is a gateway to class research, career, and college prep materials on the internet.

Fordson’s online database library  includes in-school and at-home password access to over 5000 magazines and journals and more than 1000 online reference books and encyclopedias. The Media Center computers also connect to the Fordson library book collection and to the collections of the Dearborn Public libraries and local college libraries.
